Teen Pregnancy Data
Kentucky ranks 25th in the nation for teen pregnancy and 14th for birth rate (Alan Guttmacher Institute, 2000). Kentucky’s teen pregnancy rate for girls 15-19 was 76 in 2000, as compared to 84 in the United States (National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, 2000). According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health (2004), the Kentucky birth rate for people under the age of 18 was 9.4/1000.
