Core Values

KTPC believes that adolescent pregnancy and parenting present challenges to adolescents, their children, families, and communities.

The members of KTPC are united in wanting to reduce teen pregnancy in Kentucky.

KTPC believes that young people are capable of making responsible decisions about sexuality, pregnancy, and parenting and can be effective parents when they have accurate and complete information, resources, support ad skills that are appropriate for their age, gender, and cultural background.

KTPC believes that teen pregnancy prevention programs are effective when they are comprehensive, research based and incorporate respect for the rights and capabilities of adolescents and when they include a variety of stakeholders in decision-making, implementation, and evaluation.

KTPC respects the diversity of values held by different individuals and groups and is inclusive and nonpartisan.  Because no one approach to reducing teen pregnancy has been demonstrated to be effective in all situations, we value tolerance to various reasonable strategies to reach this goal.

KTPC believes that both female and male partners are responsible for preventing early pregnancy and for parenting, supporting, nurturing their children.

KTPC believes that it is essential to involve schools, families, communities, and practitioners in addressing the issues of adolescent pregnancy, prevention, and parenting.
